Olive Spring Shoot | Salem Oregon Photographer

It is my pleasure to introduce the Faces of Olive… Meet: Autumn, Cassi, Taylor, Korey, Tori, Kady, Spencer and Alexis. These 8 beautiful people are advocates for Olive Boutique and will be featured wearing popular clothing brands throughout the year, and I am the lucky one that gets to photograph them!

These looks were put together by the fashion-smart owner of Olive Boutique, Marrianne. She worked with various vendors like RVCA, TOMS, Ezekial, and Brixton to create these looks perfect for Spring. Any of the clothing you see photographed can be found at Olive Boutique in Salem, Oregon. Hair and makeup for the advocates was provided by Cosmos Deja Vu salon in downtown Salem.

As far as the shoot goes, we were on location at a private residence just outside of Salem. The property owner was so gracious and actually owns some wild animals. We got to work with some adorable camels, some zebras and a kangaroo which made this a really unique experience for everyone.

So, here they are, the Faces of Olive:

Domestic Bliss Engagement Session | Salem Oregon Photographer

When a friend of mine asked me to help make her vision come to life for a couple she wanted to gift an engagement session to I was super excited. The vision: create photos where the old fashion values of the wife serving her husband and cleaning the house meets the current reality of today’s relationships and marriages. What is the current reality? Well, I suppose it’s different for every couple but one thing that was crystal clear during this sweet couple’s session was that David looked at Holly, dressed in her apron and high heals, like she was the most beautiful person he’d ever seen. The love that these two have for one other spoke volumes as they played “house” in front of the camera. It may be one of the most adorable things I’ve ever seen. It reminds me of the love language, “service to others” and how showing love through acts of service to your husband is not old fashioned at all but that it can, in fact, be sexy. Channeling my inner housewife is something I could be better at in my own marriage and I love how this photo shoot reminded me of that.

Thank you Holly and David for being such amazing sports during your session. Here are some sneak peak images!

Baby Blake | Salem, Oregon Newborn Photographer

Baby Blake is so sweet and was a little angel during his big photoshoot debut. He was super cooperative and happy throughout the morning and it was obvious that he knew who his mommy and daddy were because he would perk right up and open his eyes when they would talk to him. Babies always melt my heart and there’s almost nothing that I love more than photographing newborns with their adoring parents. Congrats to Michael and Kristin on your little bundle of love. I hope you can look at these photos for years to come and remember how small and precious your little man was at this stage in his life. Here are some images from your newborn session!!

Dari & Stetson’s Engagement Session | Salem, Oregon Wedding Photographer

Right before you enter the Oregon Garden in Silverton, Oregon there is an interging house that is truly one of a kind. It is called the Gordon House and it was designed by architect Frank Lloyd Wright. The house is modern and has a cool vibe you don’t see very often. It’s really a work of art. I hadn’t actually planned on taking photos at the Gordon House but I’m glad we stopped by to look around and check out the amazing surroundings.

We started Dari and Stetson’s engagement session by exploring the Gordon House and then moved into the Oregon Garden for a few more shots. This was my first time spending time with both Dari and Stetson together. They are a really sweet couple and wonderful people. I could see the love beaming between them and I can’t wait to shoot their wedding this April.

Here are some of the photos we got from their engagement session. Happy engagement you two love birds!!

Baby Caleb | Salem, Oregon Newborn Photographer

I can’t believe it’s been a year since meeting little Caleb. I did this newborn session in Caleb’s room with his mom and dad looking on with admiration. What I remember about Caleb’s session is that his parents were amazing people. Caleb was not in the mood for a photoshoot. He was not having it, and in those situations it can make parents feel stressed, upset, angry, impatient, or even want to cry out of frustration. BUT, not Caleb’s mom and dad. They were so gracious and did everything they could to make him comfortable. We ended up doing two sessions to get the photos. This is another reason I suggest doing newborn sessions at the family’s home. It really made things a little easier. What I want people to understand when booking a newborn session is that these are the most unpredictable sessions a photographer can do. If your baby gets upset, I have no problem waiting a little bit for the parents to try and get them comfortable again by feeding them, rocking them, or trying to sooth them. If things don’t turn out the way you were hoping the first time due to things out of your control you can always set up another time to get those precious images you’re dreaming of.

Happy  first year of growing and being loved Caleb! Here’s some pictures from your newborn session!
