After Nick and Deborah got married in St. Thomas, they wanted to come home and celebrate with their family and friends in Oregon, so that’s exactly what they did. They provided everyone with a fun, relaxing, and memorable experience as there was lots of amazing food, dancing and great company. Last summer I had this crazy urge to create a video, so I contacted a dear friend and asked her if she would be interested in partnering with me. Mikki and I worked together at the Boys & Girls Club and I have always admired her amazing work ethic, her creative vibes and her passionate heart. She is now a full-time yoga instructor and I am SO inspired by her yoga journey. I am not a yoga person… I mean, I don’t practice yoga on a regular basis (unless there is beer involved) but I have seen what Mikki has done with something that she loves and I want to reciprocate that in my own life. I wanted to capture just a piece of this journey she has been on and see if I could, in fact, tell a story through film. Well, here it is!
This is incredibly stunning! The cinematography is perfect and you captured the heart and soul of my best friend. It actually made me cry.
When it comes to shooting engagement sessions (or any couple for that matter) I like to think of it as a partnership between myself and the couple. Jared and Caitlin were a little nervous before we got started. I think a lot of couples share the same insecurities when they have their photos taken. Let’s be real… this isn’t something most couples have done on a daily basis. My job is to peel away those insecurities so couples can relax into the session and just be themselves. As this happens, together, we can create something very special. I LOVE these images and I loved witnessing these two embrace the process of being in the spotlight. This was such a fun wedding to photograph. Andrew and Erika got married on the property that Andrew grew up on. His family are farmers so it was no surprise when I found out that this bride and groom planted all of their own flowers that was in their wedding. These two love birds are pretty darn cute together. I got to shoot these engagement photos last weekend and for an early February day, it couldn’t have been any better.
